September 21, 2002
Wayne County Speedway
Started the heat race from the 5th position and finished 4th. With the side board on the car we turned a 16.10 lap (regular time during the season 19.0}. We started the feature in 5th spot an were running 6th when the car got sideways in the 3rd turn, but we managered to straighten it up than one of the guys behind me drove into the side of the car hitting the right front tire snapping the wheel out of my hands. The steering wheel caught my right hand and dislocated right pinky finger and tore up car.

We drew a #37 which would mean that we would start from the tail of our heat race. We ended up finishing in the 4th spot which would advance us to the A-Main. We started 11th after a few laps moved up to 9th. We spun to keep from rear ending a car. One other guy got involved with me and it ended his night so we were placed back at the tail. We managered to work our way back up the the 11th position out of 20 cars when the checkered flag fell.

We competed Friday night for the 3rd leg of the triple crown with hope hopes. We drew a 30 which ment we would be one of the last cars to qualify. We ended up about 20th fastest out of 28 cars. Just didn't have it, so we made a few changes with a little help from Allen Bakers team. We started 2nd in the heat and grabbed the lead on the first two restarted and on the third we went side by side with Jim Gentry for two laps before we dropped in behind for a second place finish. We started 15th in the 40 lap feature. By the end of the 20th lap we had worked our way up to the 5th spot. We had never had a car work so well and it was fun to drive. Around lap 25 there was a caution flag. The restart was ugly in turn one a car come down causing the car in front of me to spin. We checked up in time, but the guy behind me could not get stopped in time. When he hit me it pushed me into the another car bending my front spindle as well as casuing rear body damage. This would end our night early which was very disappointing, but we know that our car will run with the top cars.

We drew a #29 which ment the we would start the heat in the middle of the pack. We started off good and slipped up letting one car get by and finished 6th. The would mean that we would have to run the B-Main feature. We started in the 6th spot and also finished there. Ending the night early so we thought. But the best part was yet to come. I got a chance to run in Troy Kingan's 360 Sprint car in the Mechanics race at the end of the night. That was truly awesome. Nobody could ask for a more perfect ending to a season then I got Saturday night getting the experience of driving a sprint car. Thanks Troy, Eva and Bill. That was .......words cannot describe.

The car felt good in hot laps and we drew a good spot for the heat race when the rain begin to fell. The races were called.

We drew a #40 which ment that we would start from the tail position in the heat race with some of the evenings fastest cars. We managed to finish 6th, which would mean that we would have to compete in the B-Main feature. From the 3rd starting position we grabbed the lead on the first lap and led the next 7 laps before Wayne Maffett Jr. got under us in turn two, but we held on for the second finishing spot. This would advance us to the A-Main featuare, but very deep in the field 19th to be exact. The track had alot of fast cars and only one groove. When to night was over we finished in the 19th place just where we started but everything was still in one piece so we left with a smile :)

The evening started with a #38 pill. This would give us a 9th place starting spot in the heat race. After carefully working my way though the field we ended up finishing in the 3rd position, which transfered us into the A-Main feature. We started from the 10th spot in the feature and got as high as 8th place when there was a caution. On the restart a guy got into us and we stopped on the track to avoid getting mixed up in the mess. We lost all the positions we had gained and some, but managed to finish in the 11th position.

After working all morning to replace the header gasket that we blew the night before at Lakeville we drew a decent starting spot for the heat race. In the heat race while running in the 2nd position with 2 laps to go we entered turn 3 to hard and spun out. That would mean that we would have to start the B-Main from the tail position. We had worked our way up to the 5th spot when the checker flag flew with only the top two cars transfering to the A-Main.

After completing a long week of repairs we started mid pack in the heat race. It didn't take long before we climbed into the 3rd position. But after reaching that position we spun out in the second turn. This would force us to ran the B-Main feature. We started in the 9th spot and manage to finish 2nd, but blew a header gasket during the race. So for the A-Main we made a couple circuits and pulled off so as not to hurt the motor.

There was a special format race at Wayne County Speedway. Several times during the race season we would pull a card to make a poker hand. We had a good enough hand to start 10th in the feature. We made some good choices as far as the setup and the car was perfect. We advanced to the 6th position when 2 cars got together setting off a chain reaction wreck. We got hit from behind which sent the car sliding and then we got hit near the drivers door by another car. By the time everything was over 6 cars had heavy damage including ours. We'll have to spend this week making repairs to get the car race ready for next week.

We returned to Lakeville Speedway to finish the race from the week before. Just to re-cap the race was red flag after the accident that collected several cars and rain. The race started from were it was stopped which was on the 9th lap. The promotors decided that we should take the green flag from the tail position. We ended the evening in the 11th spot.

We started the night up front in the heat race and went on for our first checker flag of the year. After winning the heat race my wife, Misty drew the pole position for the feature. A very light rain started as the green flag flew for the start of the late model race as we set the pace for the first 9 laps with 4th starting Rick Bond right with us and Allan Baker and Jim Gentry in hot pursuit. With the track getting increasingly slipperily due the rainy conditions Bond had been trying to get past on the high side and when our car drifted high into turn one, Bond dove low and looked to have the pass made but the two cars hooked together sending Bond into the backstretch guardrail as Baker hit our car with Gentry going over top of Bakers ride as it rolled over on it's top and Gentry's on top of Baker's upside down car. The only injury was a possible broken wrist on Baker. At that point, the rain turned into a downpour and the races were called off. To be finished August 2nd with nine laps in.

Over 35 cars entered on Saturday night with only the top 20 to start the A-Main featue. We started 4th in the heat race and on the first lap we got caught behind a car that quit running. Of course we collected him, but the damage was only miner. We continued, but by then everyone was on the bottom under me and we ended up finishing in the 6th position. We would have to run the B-Main feature in order to advance into the A-Main. We started from the 5th spot and after spinning on the first lap. We came back to finish 3rd. But only the top 2 cars from the B-Main advanced to the A-Main. So the night ended early then we would have liked.

The night started out by qualifying inside the top 20 cars. We started the heat race from the 7th position with only the top 4 cars transfering to the A-Main feature. We ending up finishing in the 6th place which would put us in the B-Main feature. We began from the 5th spot and came up to finish 2nd behind Keith Berner. The 2nd place finish in the B-Main would give us a transfer spot into the A-Main feature where we would start from the 17th position. At the crossing of the halfway flags we had moved up to the 9th place then moved up to 8th place, when something broke. We rubbed a tire on the inside of the track and at the same time got bumped in the right front tire by another car. We made it two more laps then the upper control arm broke ending a great run to the front. That's racing we'll get them next time.

We would start the night off in the 9th starting spot in the heat race. We avoided a hugh crash and passed a few cars to finish 3rd. In the A-Main feature we started 7th and the first few laps were rough. During the scramble our right rear fender got damage which caused some handling problems and a lap later the car looped out. This would required us to re-start from the tail end of the field which was the 17th position, but we came back to finish 12th. Not a bad night just some sheet metal damage.

Started Friday nights racing from the 2nd position in the heat race and finished 2nd. In the feature we started 11th. By the 5th lap during some intense racing the door was caved in and the rear quarter was bent, but we had moved up to 7th place. We continued to ran there while trying to get under the guy in front of us for the next half of the race. Then the car started to miss and break up until it died on the last lap of the race. We pulled off and finished 12th. After the race we determined that the float on the carb was stuck.

Once again we started from the 1st position in the heat race and finished 4th. We started 10th in the feature and finished 16th. The track was really dry and hard we chose the wrong set-up for these track conditions.

The night started off from the 1st position in the heat race and we finished 2nd. We had to redraw for starting position in the feature and my crew cheif pulled a #1. This would put us on the pole for the feature. We led the start but, Jim Gentry got around and we followed him for the rest of the race while being pressured by the third place Wayne Maffett, Jr. We hung on to finish second.

The night started from the 9th position in the heat race and we ended up finishing 5th. The problems with the power steering were still plaguing us, but with the 5th place finish we transfered to the A-Main feature. We started in the 13th position and were able to avoid the big crash on the second lap. After the race got restarted we managed to move to the top ten. Then somebody spun in front of us and we got collected damaging the whole side of the car. We were able to salvage a 8th place finish when the checkered flag fell. We owe the good night to one of our crew member's who changed some things on the car prior to the feature and made the right call.
Thanks Bruce !

Well after any crash your in you always find more problems the next night out. We got to the track and realized we had steering problems. Our power steering servo was broken from a crash a couple weeks ago, so we had to "man handle" the car all night. We started 6th in the heat race and finished 6th. This would require us to race in the B-Main feature which we started 5th in and also finished 5th. The night would end without transfering to the A-Main. Like any racecar driver you hate to not make the show, but with 40 late models trying to make a 20 car field somebody will go home early and tonight was our night to sit out.

That's All Folks
